SHRIVENHAM were impressive 4-0 winners at home to Winterbourne and managed to keep 11 men on the field into the bargain.

Alan Dyton has seen a succession of his players sent off in recent weeks and called an early pre-match meeting to address the problem.

"This was a particularly difficult fixture for us and we responded very well," said the Hellenic One West title-chasing Shrivvy boss.

"Our shape, discipline and work rate was back where it should be and if we continue in that way the final weeks of the season will be interesting.

"We had a talk before the game about our poor discipline and I feel the players understand the fact that we cannot continue to be one of the leading clubs if we keep playing games with players being sent off.

"We need to get on with our football and accept decisions that go against us.

"The problem we now face is the players we have had dismissed will become suspended at an important time.

"But our squad has stood up all season and I'm sure we can cater for that."

Shrivenham withstood some heavy early pressure and Luke Alford had to be on top form to earn his clean sheet.

The tide turned when Steve Avenell scored with a near-post header mid-way through the first period.

Winterbourne's Steve Baker then headed Avenell's cross into his own net to double the home team's lead before half-time.

Alex Green took advantage of some sloppy defending to make it 3-0 and Avenell completed the scoring with his second on the counter attack late on.

Darren Brown and Brynn Keetch scored as Purton beat Clanfield 2-0 at the Red House to continue their rise up the Division One standings.

Cirencester United beat Adderbury by the same scoreline at the Corinium Stadium.

Malmesbury didn't fair quite as well at table-topping Kidlington.

The Vics were competitive for the first hour of the game before falling away as three late goals condemned them to a 4-0 defeat.
