MICHAEL Proctor is hoping to repay in goals the Town supporters who have financed his move to the County Ground.

The 24-year-old's wages for the next month will be financed by the Red Army Fund, a fans' initiative established in August 2003 to help Andy King bolster his squad.

Individual fans and local businesses have both contributed sums since the launch and the pot currently stands at £8,313.

Proctor is the first player to be brought in to the club as part of the scheme and he is anxious to say 'thank you'.

The Rotherham United forward said: "It's great and hopefully I can repay the fans' faith and the manager's faith by scoring a few goals and pushing us towards promotion."

King is also grateful for the backing of the Town fans' groups who have handed him a timely boost.

He said: "It is good for the club because we haven't got great finances at the moment.

"I thank the Trust on behalf of the club.

"It's their club and if they're helping me, they're helping Swindon Town."

The exact sum is not being disclosed but it will be a portion of the funds currently lodged in the Red Army Fund account.

The hope is that fans now having seen the scheme bear fruit once will back it in ever greater numbers and ensure that Proctor isn't the only example of squad strengthening being carried out in such fashion.

Tony Norris, TrustSTFC chairman, said: "This is exactly what we set up the Red Army Fund for and we'd like to thank all the fans and local businesses who have contributed to the fund for making this possible."

Two of the key sponsors met Proctor at the club's training ground yesterday and it is hoped this will act as a spur for other local businesses to come on board.

While Proctor was settling in to his new surroundings, another Town forward was heading out.

Rory Fallon has agreed a one-month loan deal with League Two table-toppers Yeovil and came off the bench to score a crucial goal against Scunthorpe last night.

One man King is anxious not to see go anywhere is young winger Lee Holmes.

The youngster's second loan month expires today and King is in discussions with George Burley to try and agree a third and final month.
