MICHAEL Proctor is in no mood to rest on his laurels despite a dream debut for Swindon Town.

The 24-year-old striker bagged the only goal of the game as Andy King's men enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Port Vale at the County Ground last night.

Proctor's loan move from Rotherham United was made possible thanks to funds raised by supporters and he is anxious to keep his 'backers' smiling.

He said: "It's great that they're supporting me, I'll do the best I can for them and hopefully I can keep things going.

"It was nice to get a goal on my debut but more important was the win which moves us up towards the play-off places.

"I just nudged it past the keeper and I was delighted to see it hit the net.

"We battled hard and I felt we thoroughly deserved the three points.

"Now we go to Doncaster and another massive game. If we put in the same application and attitude as we did against Port Vale then I'm sure we can come away with three points."

Manager Andy King said of Proctor: "He's a goalscorer, a Parkin. He's had the first touch and slid it in with the outside of his foot.

"Goalscorers do that, they don't lash at things.

"We had to win to keep us in there. We're five unbeaten the target is to keep it going."

"We honestly believe now that we have a chance."

King revealed after the game that he had reached agreement with Derby County boss George Burley for young winger Lee Holmes to remain at the County Ground for a third and final month.

He said: "He's improving and gaining league experience which can only stand him in good stead."
