CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: FIRST Division Chippenham Police had their dreams of cup glory dashed for another season when they were dumped out by fourth division underdogs Fascia Graphics.

Graphics just need one goal to settle the contest which was scored after just five minutes by Mark Smith. He met Paul Harvey's cross perfectly to send his overhead effort crashing into the net. Although Smith had another effort ruled out for offside, the Police were camped in Fascia's half for the majority of the game but they were unable to find away through their stubborn defence to find a goal that would have taken the tie to extra time.

After disposing off KSM 5-0 in the Knockout Cup earlier in the season and inflicting them with a 17-0 trashing in the Trophy last term, North Star A were confident that they would produce the goods that would take them through to a second semi-final appearance in as many season. True to form the Star duly obliged with a 6-0 win. Mark Sharrett, Ronnie Kallmeier and Tommy Ludford gave the Star a 3-0 interval lead, two further goals from Sharrett and one from Rob Smith completed the Calne sides half dozen.

Second division AC Soho pushed top flight side and favourites Trowbridge Harriers all the way before losing out in a dramatic penalty shoot out.

With normal time tied at 2-2 extra time produced a further goal each which resulted in spot kicks. Harriers keeper Mark Binns emerged as his team's hero.

Soho led 2-1 thanks to a Marcus Young double but with four minutes remaining Harriers Ali Stokes added to John Hubbard's earlier strike to bring the scores level. Andy Cooper put Harriers ahead in extra time but a stunning effort from Paul Maddox, which hit the underside of the bar before crossing the line, made it 3-3.

Alan Cook and John Hubbard both missed their penalties for the Harriers as Soho built up a 2-0 mini lead. Harriers keeper Mark Binnssaved kicks from Maddox and Young while successful kicks from John Baker and Roy Sikdar drew the scores level.

Binns then saved Adam Smith's penalty to swing the match Harriers way and all Stokes had to do was to score to send his team through to the semi-finals and this he did with ease.

LEADERS West Lavington (Sunday) boosted their hopes of claiming their first ever championship and in wining 6-3 at Sherston Town they all but ended their opponents hopes of claiming back to back titles.

Lavington led 6-0 at one stage before Sherston staged a late revival.

Lavington' manager Simon Drewitt led by example, scoring four of his sides goals, Andy Davis and Kevin Jones added the others while Gavin Thompson (2) and Andy Wicks (penalty) replied late on for Sherston.

Westbury Rangers A and Biddestone Social completed only their eighth league match of the season. Rangers' 2-1 success means they can still be involved in the race for silverware if they can continue to produce the victories. Rob Pocock turned home a loose ball on two minutes to put Biddestone in front but it was canceled out by two goals from Mark Lanfear in two minutes. Despite chances for both teams that was the way the game finished.

Bradford News ended their dismal run of six straight defeats with a 2-1 home victory over Maud Heath Sports.

The Sports fell behind when Russell Francis was picked out by a great through ball from Jason Povey. Francis doubled with a shot from distance and Sports were dealt a further blow when they lost the services of Ollie Fenwick who needed 11 stitches to a gashed leg. Adie Simpkins pulled oneback for the Sports but it wasn't enough.

Bottom of the table All Cannings were drawing 2-2 with Box Rovers midway through the first half but once Rovers broke the shackles they went on to win 10-4 with Ryan Bush and Tom Smith both scoring a hat tricks. Jamie Harrison hit two, Dan Young and a Kevin Hall own goal made up the ten.

Tony Greenidge's treble, of which one came from the penalty spot, and a James Ashford-Browns solo effort were of little consolation to Cannings who have now lost 12 on the trot.

Second half goals from Neil Shardlow and Chris Jones earned Corsham Cricket Club a 2-1 win over Hullavington who took a first half lead through Craig Samuels who pounced after a mistake by Dave Crawford in Corsham's defence.

COLERNE relinquished pole position in Division One following their inability to raise a team for their all important clash with an in-form Winsley side.

They were knocked off the top spot by Corsham Centre who followed up their 9-0 victory over Atworth United in the reverse fixture with a similar result as they claimed a 9-1 victory.

Simon Gray (3), Scott Lye (2), Craig Gingell (2), Mike Higson and substitute James Lye shared the Centre's goals while Matthew Ralph missed from the spot.

Stuart Holland was Atworth's solitary marksman with his goal coming just after Ashley Wheeler missed a penalty for Atworth.

Andy Cook, 43, came to Wingfield's rescue as his first full game for 12 years saw him steal the limelight from the youngsters around him. He was called up by Wingfield to make the numbers up for their trip to Chippenham Sports and Social Club and it was his left foot strike that broke the deadlock with 15 minutes of the game remaining. Chippenham pulled one back from a hotly disputed penalty which was converted by Alan Banks. With time running out Cook had an assist in Wingfield's winner when he set up Lee Sines who fired home to give Wingfield a 2-1 victory.

Calne Sunday threw away a two-goal advantage as bottom of the table North Bradley hit back for a share of the spoils as they salvaged a 2-2 stalemate. Ian Williamson's blistering strike and Shane Minnes goals counted for nothing as Chris Sadd and Tim Richards netted to earn Bradley what could prove to be a valuable point, Bradley were unlucky not to pick up both points as they hit the woodwork three times in the second half.

Semington Rovers beat Holt FC 3-0 with goals from Dave Castle and Stuart Barber (2).

WITH leaders Spencer Sports in cup action, second-placed Christian Malford closed the gap to a point after their 7-2 success over King Alfred.

Scott Evans hit four for the second consecutive week to take his tally for the season to 25, Richard Bruce (2) and Chris Pitman were Malford's other scorers. Mark Bolton and Jason Ford replied for Alfred.

Parsons Nose's 2-1 defeat of Sutton Benger saw them move up into third spot. Wayne Bailey's tenth minute goal for the Nose was equalised by Steve Gawke's excellent free kick, but with five minutes remaining Ricky Sullivan drove home from 35 yards.

A Chris Fardell treble and one each for Steve Jackson and Carl Davies gave Southwick Sports a commanding 5-0 interval lead against The Crown Devizes. The Crown changed their formation for the second period and scored three goals, with them all coming from Tim Wootton but in spite of the brave fightback it wasn't enough as Southwick held out for a 5-3 victory.

Steeple Ashton (Sunday) were back to their very best and for the first 35 minutes of their game with Corsham Park Rangers they were untouchable as they built a platform for them to go on and claim a 7-1 scoreline. Four goals from Adam Sheppard took his tally to six in just two games, Neil Taylor (2) and Dave Bradbeer sealed Ashton's win while Gordon Willshire hit Rangers consolation.

FOR the second time this season North Star B have let their opponents down at the eleventh hour when they failed to rase a team against Kings Arms (Trowbridge).

It gave rivals FC Bradford the opportunity to reclaim top spot which they duly did after they defeated Old Road Tavern 3-0. Paul Tunmnel (2) and Lee Stevens got the goals.

Sir Audley's Arms' 4-3 victory over White Horse FC moved them to third.

Steve Mallard, Dave Nolan, Richard Johnson and substitute Stuart Shipway established a 4-0 advantage for the Arms but with 15 minutes left the Horse rallied and Chris Turk, Julian Putt and Richard Radcliff clawed the Horse back into the game.

With just one win from their last 13 matches Somerford conjured up a5-2 victory over Westbury Rangers B that arrested a run of eight defeats. Chris Yeo was Somerford's star man with a quartet of stunning goals. Mark Clarke wrapped it up twith another quality finish. Shane Rendell and Lee Griffin replied for Rangers.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club fell behind to Classic FC but hit back to win 7-2.

Virgin Mobile can still count themselves as promotion hopefuls after 8-0 battering of Bradstone Rovers.

BAR OC returned to winning form in a competitive local derby against The Crown. Despite dominating the game, it took late goals from Danny Powell and a Craig Watt penalty to finally kill off a plucky home side. Duncan Biggin's header just after half time set the league leaders on course for their 13th league win of the season.

Substitute Luke Pateman grabbed a late equaliser for Springfield in a 3-3 draw with AFC Pilot.

Tamlyn Goodridge scored twice for Springfeld and Chris Bishop, Lee Jackson and Matty Gurke scored for Pilot.

AFC Calne picked up their first win of 2005 with a 3-1 victory over AFC Melksham. It was a game to remember for new boy Dean Fry a recent signing from Biddestone Arms. He scored one of the quickest ever goals in the history of the league when he put Calne ahead inside the first four seconds. Lee Stripe bought the scores level before Ricky Whiston and Ryan Kelleher sealed Calne's win.

Rowde Dynamos remain in second spot after a 3-0 victory against Wanderers. Wanderers dominated the opening 25 minutes but were caught on the counter attack which saw Jamie Mullens put Rowde one up. Adam Ford's 30 yard drvie made it 2-0 and Mullens made the result safe when he latched onto a massive clearance from keeper Ashley Robinson to made it 3-0.

Plough beat a depleted Cooper Avon 5-2 with goals from Mark Reynolds, Matt Hillman and Colin Brady hat-trick. Paul Shiner and Marcus Underwood replied.
