DEVIZES took a worryingly long time to get into their stride. Tom Jaggs and Stuart Hartley, the dynamic duo from Devizes front row, volunteered to supplement the understrength Supermarine side.

The bitter wind sapped the players' energy and their concentration. At half timethe score was 0-0.

The second half saw the return of Jaggs and Hartley to Devizes and they began to dominate proceedings.

Alastair Broughton scored a well worked try and was cruelly denied another shortly after.

Calum Conway, having been moved to scrum-half, scored a perfect sniping try.

Broughton, was again denied a try after the ball was held up when a Devizes maul collapsed over the Supermarine line.

There was no doubt with Devizes third try as Broughton stormed the length of the pitch, shrugging off three attempts to drag him down by a bewildered Supermarine defence.
