Following my recent letter concerning our traffic warden, you managed to change my surname to 'Price'.

I wish to make it clear to everyone that I have not married, I never use a pseudonym and there is no Val Price in Kennet Place. The jokes about the "Price not being right" are wearing thin.

When visiting the Local Information Point recently, I came across the Marlborough Community Area Transport Study, which contained a survey requesting our views. These must be returned to Wiltshire County Council by March 1. The views will be analysed and become the base on which the transport strategy for the future will be built. This plan will affect us all. I cannot understand why such an important survey was not sent to every household.

The county council and Kennet District Council, who are producing this transport plan, have laid down strategies on which they (apparently) seek our views. If you don't reply, they may assume we have no views. I'm always wary of tick-box surveys. The statements being made are not necessarily the ones you want to

discuss. No mention is made, for

instance, about a residents' parking scheme. One of the 12 headings is: "Parking strategy ensure the provision of and charging for car parking supports the local economic base."

The explanatory paragraph following makes no specific mention of parking for residents. However, during the consultative transport meeting on September 22, 2004, where 85 people turned up, parking for residents was mentioned quite a few times. What else may have disappeared?

If you have a view, then I suggest you hot foot it to the Local Information Point in the library and get yourself a copy of this document. You don't have to restrict yourself to tick-box answers, there is a comments box where you may add subjects or views not covered. I think I know what I'll be writing in mine.
