THE Wiltshire Times is the main sponsor of this year's West Wilts Show, one of the biggest community events in the district.

The show, the ninth since it began in 1989, will raise funds for Larkrise Community Farm, Trowbridge, and Carers Support West Wilts.

Wiltshire Times publisher Karen Crockett said: "We are very pleased to give it our wholehearted support and are sure it will be a big success, as in previous years."

Other sponsors have also pledged support, providing both their expertise and nearly £15,000 in cash for the three-day show in July.

Mike Williams, chairman of the show's steering group, said: "Without these businesses showing faith in the show, we would not be able to succeed. We are extremely grateful to them for their backing."

The event offers a showcase both for commercial enterprises and not-for-profit exhibitors, as well as providing a great day out for people from across the area.

Mr Williams said: "We already have more than 100 firm bookings, many of them made at the last show, and work is continuing to sell the remaining exhibition space. The early signs are extremely positive, as the West Wilts Show has an excellent reputation.

The show, held every two years, has grown in size since its launch and attracts thousands of visitors.

Features in this year's event will include a motor show, arts and crafts, a flower show, ITV1 West Garden Roadshow and a community spotlight.

Visitors will also have live music and family entertainment to keep them amused.

As usual there will be two evening concerts after the show closes on Thursday and Friday, all without entry charges. Sponsors of the show are ADT Fire and Security, Artisan Productions, Chandlers Coach Travel, Dentons Web, Federation of Small Businesses, Latona Leisure Group, Martial Arts Leisure, Mirage Signs, Moles Brewery, Renrod Group, Sylvester and Mackett Solicitors, The Consortium and Whitehall Garden Centre.
