CRICKLADE Town will be hoping the wintry conditions will not effect their return to league action this weekend when they visit Westbury United, writes RAY BURROUGHS.

Following their Senior Cup exploits against Highworth Town, Graham Jackson's troops have fallen behind the Wilts Premier leaders in the number of games played and now have six games in hand of leaders Bradford Town.

The Cricklade boss and his side were desperately disappointed not to have beaten Highworth after such a promising first half and Jackson will be telling his outfit to put the result behind them and concentrate on closing the gap at the table.

New College, who have had a run of disappointing results have a chance to show how good they really are when they visit second-in-the-table Corsham Town.

Manager Pete Horwat said after last week's defeat that his side had been playing well in patches and need to get a good run of results going.

The home side are a point behind leaders Bradford with a game in hand and have been held to a draw a couple of times lately.

Should the College return to form they could well come away with a result.

Purton Reserves visit Malmesbury Vics in the bottom-of-the-table clash and the Red House side badly need a win to enable them to have a chance of moving off the bottom spot.

Malmesbury Vics have picked-up a few points in recent games and will be difficult to beat.

Purton boss Gary Brown will be hopeful of getting a result and a couple of good wins could see them move up the table.

AFC Stratton who played well last week with no luck against leaders Bradford Town visit Devizes and will be looking forward to a change of fortune.

Manager Tony Dyer said the young players drafted into the side in recent weeks have shown up well.

He said: "The attitude of the side is right we just need a win to settle everybody down."

Marlborough Town visit the much improved Bromham side and league leaders Bradford are away to Melksham.

Match of the day in Junior Division One could well be at Down Ampney were the leaders are Blyskawica. The visitors have five games in hand on the homeside and a victory would put them in contention for the title.

Ampney were held to a goalless draw at Ferndale last week and their high scoring start to the season seems to have deserted them.

Another close game could be the clash between Swindon Asians and County Ground in the third round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup.

County Ground have been showing up well in Junior Two and the homeside will need to be at their best.

Castle Combe still undefeated in the league are at home to Stratton Saint Margaret and could make it 18 games without loss.

Leaders AFC Abbey Rodbourne visit Blunsdon and should collect a further three points.
