A YOUNG man was asked his thoughts on the immigrants coming into his country. He said that there were too many, they settled in the same areas, were arrogant and couldn't speak the language.

He was a Spanish youth who was talking about the 300,000-plus Britons who have settled on the Costa del Sol in the last few years.

But it could have been a Frenchman in Provence or an Italian in Tuscany, who could say the same but on a smaller scale.

Britons were able to afford this due to the doubling of household wealth between 1999 and 2003/4.

A £200,000 house in 1999 became £400,000 by 2003/4. People, mostly aged 55 plus, bought a £200,000 villa in these countries and are now enjoying retirement on the profit.

Immigration is not all one way 191,000 British subjects left the country in 2003, and 277,000 returned, many of whom no doubt left the country during the Tory years when we had three million unemployed and double-digit inflation.

Now things have changed. Digby Jones, the director general of the CBI, said in this town that Britain has the best economy in the world.

The Prodigal Sons are returning to take part in the feast. So, in the coming election the issues will not be asylum (falling) crime (falling) it will be the economy.

The British Electorate know where they are best off.

Gordon Brown has confounded the critics they don't see the cards up his sleeve and has the country continuing to grow.
