WE are all used to seeing British Hercules fly over Swindon, but American examples will be appearing at the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford this year.

A new and rarely seen American C-130J from Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, is among the latest aircraft to accept an invitation to take part in this year's Royal International Air Tattoo.

The aircraft, attached to the reactivated 48th Airlift Squadron, is the first active duty C-130J in the American air force and is one of the new generation of C-130s.

Several French aircraft are also due to participate including a French Army (Horizon) Cougar battlefield surveillance helicopter which uses radar to track vehicles on the ground.

Advance tickets for the show are £29.95.

Tickets on the gate are £35. Children aged 15 and under go free. For more information, visit the airshow website at www.airtattoo.com
