Supermarine have pulled five places clear of the Southern League drop zone thanks to a 2-0 win over Stourport Swifts but are still just two points from those bottom two spots, writes LEIGH MOORE.

Marine boss Mark Collier gave loan signing Lance Lewis his first start since joining the club, and the Swindon Town trainee repaid the manager's faith with an excellent performance capped with a fine solo goal late in the second half.

After the scrappy start to the Division One West clash, Marine were given a scare on 24 minutes when Richard Burgess delivered a teasing cross that eluded everyone.

Swifts' Mark Crisp picked up the loose ball but shot wide with Tom King left stranded.

The game then saw a five-minute stoppage due to a clash of heads between Steve Davies and Burgess.

The stoppage disrupted any sort of flow that Stourport were building and Marine took full advantage.

The game's turning point came deep in to first-half injury time.

Giles Harris picked out Tony Joyce with a through ball and the midfielder, pictured, showed great composure to send the ball over the head of the advancing Aaron O'Malley to open the scoring.

Davies almost doubled his side's lead after the interval, turning Steve Jenkins' corner against the bar.

Substitute Stephen Cook was next to go close for Marine, firing in a low drive that demanded a quick stop from O'Malley.

The second goal finally arrived two minutes from time. Lewis picked the ball up inside the Stourport half before racing clear to send a shot under the body of the fully-stretched keeper.
