WILTSHIRE and Swindon Youth Orchestra will be serving up another festival of music at the start of April.
Building on WSYO's successful tour to Italy in August 2004, members will be performing in their home county this year.
The young string players will perform Elgar's Introduction and Allegro. The wind, brass and percussion sections will present Maw's work.
The full orchestra will perform Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony, which was premiered shortly after Stalin's death and described as a composer's testament to misery, forever damning a tyrant.
There will be performances at Malmesbury Abbey on April 2 at 7.30pm and Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon, on April 3, at 3pm. Tickets for both performances are available from the Music Centre box office on 01225 860100.
