A DISTRIBUTION firm is set for expansion after a six-figure investment in a new base.

UK Shuttle has moved from 8,000sq ft premises on the Okus trading estate to a 20,000sq ft depot in Parsonage Road on the Europa estate in Lower Stratton.

The firm has been in Swindon for 15 years and employs 40 people. It is part of the APC network, which guarantees overnight delivery via a series of depots across the country.

Managing director Bryan Rose said: "This latest investment is an exciting new development for UK Shuttle and opens a new chapter for us. Being part of a network such as APC has definitely contributed greatly to UK Shuttle's growth and has provided an excellent platform on which we can continue to build and develop the business.

"Swindon is a thriving area and the demand for overnight services shows little sign of slowing down. So the move to bigger premises has come at the right time. Our investment in new vehicles will also support the current expansion."

UK Shuttle, which has 30 vehicles in total, has also taken on more lorries and vans to cope with the growth in its parcels and pallet services.

It handles 700 parcels and 100 pallets a day.
