Gorse Hill pupils show off their Easter bonnets Picture: CLARE HOMER Ref: 76591-06PUPILS from a Swindon school designed colourful Easter hats for a traditional parade.

About 160 children from Gorse Hill Infants School arrived for class with the hats which they later wore during the parade at the nearby community centre.

They also sung songs including Singin' In The Rain and The Sun Has Got His Hat On to an audience of parents and staff.

Headteacher Sue Kershaw said: "It's a tradition that has been going on for many years. There were just a fantastic lot of hats of different shapes and designs.

"They were just amazing and were made by the children themselves or with the help of their parents. It was a wonderful parade."

As well as floral designs, there were hats with eggs and Easter chicks on them.

And some of the pupils wore fairy costumes.

To ensure she didn't feel left out, Mrs Kershaw designed her own bonnet to wear.

"Mine was a straw boater which had daffodils and ivy glued onto it," she said.

To celebrate the end of term, the school will hold an Easter disco tomorrow.
