MELKSHAM Town's youthful side gave their fans plenty to cheer as they struck home five goals in the last home game of the season.

Melksham manager Lee Burns said he was happy with his team's performance in the first game of the Brislington double header.

He praised his young side, adding the future looked good for Melksham.

"I think Brislington are going through a transitional period like we have been but we are starting to look like a team," said Burns.

"Because of the situation with the club at the moment we have had to bring a lot of the youngsters through and I have had to strike a balance.

"I've asked for a little bit more determination from them and the desire to win, and for the last two or three games it has started to come together.

"5-0 was a fair reflection on the game and Ryan Trowbridge was outstanding on his 19th birthday."

Melksham were quickly into their stride with a strike into the top corner from Nick Ridout on eight minutes after picking up a John O'Meara throw in.

On 20 minutes, youngster Chris Beasley hit his first goal adding another to his tally just after half time.

Substitute Gary Higdon then came off the bench to score with 15 minutes left after impressing in the youth set up at the Conigre.

With five minutes left Simeon Allison hit a fifth for Melksham, running half the pitch and beating two players along the way, before stroking the ball home.

Burns was confident his young side could pick up more points to move the side out of trouble.

"It is not mathematically impossible for us to be relegated but we have three games left and we are playing three lower placed teams.

"We have Bridport and Torrington away who are scrapping it out down there for points, but we can certainly pick up some more results."
