Jason RawlingsA 21-YEAR-OLD former Devizes man has been charged with causing the death of Jason Rawlings in a car crash.

David Pearce was charged by police at Melksham on Tuesday of causing the death of Mr Rawlings while driving without due care and attention whilst unfit through drink.

He was also charged with failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, driving without insurance and driving not in accordance with a licence.

Mr Pearce, formerly of Waiblingen Way, Devizes, but now thought to be living in Sussex, was bailed to appear at Chippenham Magistrates Court on June 16.

Mr Rawlings, who was 22, died at the scene of a crash on the A365 at Redstocks near Melksham, on January 28. He was travelling in a Mondeo which left the road and collided with a telegraph pole and bus stop.

Mr Rawlings was a labourer and lived with his mother, Kim Heath, and stepfather, Colin Heath, and younger brothers, Matthew, 20, and Daniel, 17, in Bath Road, Devizes.

His father, Stan Rawlings, lives at Lacock near Chippenham.
