UNDER 11s: Bromham and Chippenham Town Youth enjoyed being treated as cup finalists as they lined up before the presentation game, with Bromham playing in their second consecutive final.

Chippenham finished the half 2-0 up thanks to two well taken goals by Jamal Chevolleau.

Chippenham came out in the second half with the wind assisting their attack and they continued their dominance after well taken goals from James North and an exceptional individual goal from Mike Cupper. Chippenham relaxed a little which Bromham took advantage of as they pressed for a goal.

This eventually came as the Bromham team strung together several fine attacks and broke through the Chippenham defence scoring two superbly taken goals. Chippenham managed to take advantage of the windy conditions adding two more goals.

Despite very wet and windy weather, both Cricklade and Marlborough played some excellent football in the Mid Wilts Youth & Minor League end of season U17 Fair Play game.

For Cricklade this was the second time in consecutive seasons that they had achieved the most fair play points.

Marlborough started the stronger, despite being against the wind, with some excellent passing play in midfield and good through balls.

After five minutes Cricklade began to get back into the game. After 11 minutes Neil Fisher took a corner for Cricklade which was hit against the bar by Tommy Johnson. Fisher collected the loose ball which was chipped to Joe Dorey, who fired the ball in.

Wilson played an excellent ball onto Fisher who drilled the ball past the Marlborough keeper to make it 2-0. The Cricklade pressure continued and in the 22nd minute Fisher added a third for Cricklade.

Marlborough fought hard and were not down hearted and once more produced some excellent midfield passing play. Unfortunately for Marlborough, a break by Cricklade's Dorey put a hard cross into the area to produce a Marlborough own goal in the 35th minute. In the 59th minute another fine piece of midfield play by Marlborough produced a through ball that was latched on to by Anthony Forsyth-Forest, who powered an excellent ball past the Cricklade keeper.

In the 79th minute a long ball from the Marlborough keeper bounced past the Cricklade defence, with Marlboroughs Ben Crome running brilliantly though the Cricklade defence to fire home a second.

Marlborough Town presented Shirley Brigham (League secretary) with a basket of flowers for all her hard work over the season.

In wet and windy conditions Castle Combe started the better, played some neat one-two's, twice putting Castle forwards through on goal but were denied by Barford's keeper, Nathan Lamb, racing out from the goal. The first half was mostly contested in the middle of the park resulting in a half time score-line of 0-0.

In the second half the wind dropped and the football lifted. Barford started to put some good crosses into the box but were denied by some good defending by Combe.

In the 86th minute a free kick was given to Barford, from 30 yards out, which Chris Smith stepped up and curled the ball into the top corner making it 1-0 to Barford.

Castle Combe still playing some good football, put a cross into the box which two Barford defenders misjudged allowing a Castle forward to score making it 1-1 in the 88th minute.

With minutes left Barford's Ricky Duncombe made a brilliant mid field run past two Castle defenders and placed the ball into the bottom corner giving Barford a 2-1 lead which was the final score.

UNDER 14S

The under 14s Fair Play game was contested between Amesbury Juniors and Bath Arsenal. Amesbury took the lead in the first half after a good build up starting at the back with Nathan Mundy who found Peter Hillyard unmarked in midfield. Hillyard's pass split the Arsenal defence finding Simon Edwards who hit a thundering shot past the out stretched keeper into the roof of the net from 20 yards out. After the break Bath came out in an attacking mood forcing two outstanding saves from Amesbury keeper Phillip Dobson before levelling the score at 1-1. Edwards had been playing centre back for the second half was sent back to is customary roll as striker where he scored once again with a curling shot from the edge of the penalty area after good build up between Ross Kier, Carl Skingley and James Chapman. In the last minute of the game Amesbury's captain, Tom Williams, was unlucky not to score with a diving header which went just wide of the post.

A close final was played out between Warminster Highbury and Bradford on Avon in high winds on Sunday. With the first half wind on their backs Highbury played attacking football from the start and after just five minutes on the clock Tom Reynolds' looping long-range effort surprised the Bradford keeper and sailed over his head to make it 1-0 to the Highbury.

It looked as though Bradford might be over-run, as Highbury then lay siege to the Bradford defence but some casual finishing by Highbury and good defensive play by Bradford ensured that there was only one goal in it at half-time. Bradford must have hoped that with the wind behind them they would dominate the second half but resolute defending by the boys in black and red kept the lead intact and, indeed, Highbury always looked the more likely team to score.

With the back four playing well as a unit, confidence flowed through the team once more and only some desperate defending and a string of fine saves by the Bradford keeper kept the score down.

In the end only the single goal was scored but the occasion was graced by two sets of players who are to be congratulated for their honest endeavour.

UNDER 7s

After enjoying the treatment normally afforded to FA Cup Final players, the Chippenham Town Youth and Melksham Park B under 7s ran onto the pitch which would not be out of place in a major cup final. The standard of play was befitting this presentation match and the players performed to a very high standard.
