ALTHOUGH it is still summer, the elderly in Swindon are being urged to think about keeping warm this winter.
Age Concern is combating heat loss by offering free cavity wall insulation to people in Swindon whose energy is supplied by its Energy Services arm.
The charity estimates that the average home in the Swindon area typically loses around a third of its heat each year due to poorly insulated or draughty homes.
Homeowners taking advantage of the free offer can expect to save as much as £160 per year on energy bills.
"Cavity wall installation is an ideal way to make homes more energy efficient and is much less disruptive than homeowners might think," said Michael Abrey-Bugg, Age Concern's Energy Services manager.
To qualify for the offer, customers must have their energy supplied by Age Concern Energy Services and be homeowners over the age of 60.
The offer also applies to people on income or disability related benefits, whether they are an Age Concern customer or not.
