SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 1 2005, BATH: Mind the Gap, the UK's leading theatre company working with learning disabled artists, comes to the Ustinov from September 30 to October 1 with a new adaptation of John Steinbeck's classic story, Of Mice and Men.

It is a story of friendship, loyalty and the power of dreams.

George and Lennie are drifters who have only each other and their shared search for the American dream.

After they take on work at a ranch in California's Salinas Valley, Lennie becomes a target for the cruelty of others.

Through their relationships with other people on the farm we discover the truly powerful friendship between a smart little guy and his learning disabled friend. In this new production the character of Crooks is introduced, widening the exploration of inclusion and discrimination.

Adapted by award-winning writer Mike Kenny, Of Mice and Men received great critical acclaim from audiences and the media after two successful tours in 2000.

Mind the Gap aims to encourage and promote an inclusive approach to the performing arts by addressing the barriers faced by people with disabilities both as performers and audiences.

Through its national touring productions, the company aims to challenge perceptions about people with learning disabilities, and to celebrate difference and diversity.

Of Mice and Men is one of the very few pieces of literature to prominently feature a learning disabled character.
