THE old Penhill Athletic Under 14 team reformed on the pitch on Sunday to help raise more than £200 for the Cancer Research charity.

Their 3-3 draw with Highworth Town Reserves at The Elms reunited 20-year-old Mark Edmonds with his former teammates.

Edmonds was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2002, but has since battled back and is preparing to start his first full season after his recovery from the disease.

Defender Edmonds said: "I think we (Penhill Athletic) last played together in 1999, so it was good to get the lads from back then together again.

"I was 16 when I was diagnosed and I've played a bit since then but this will be my first full year.''

Edmonds, now a Highworth player, is set to feature in his club's Hellenic League campaign this term.

He added: "We raised a decent amount for Cancer Research and I'd just like to thank Highworth Town for letting us use their facilities.

"I also want to say thanks to Ruth Hill who set everything up for the game.''

The final amount raised was £222.
