A FORMER Warrant Officer in the army is undertaking a gruelling challenge this week running a marathon a day for five days.

Superfit Andy Bailey, 44, will cover a total of 149 miles during his multi-marathon effort which sees him pass through Newbury, Oxford, Swindon and Gloucester.

Andy, who served in the Royal Logistics Corp, is a logistics manager for Sodexho, a catering and support services provider.

He works for Sodexho Defence Services and is running from Aldershot to RAF Innsworth in Gloucester, where he is based.

Andy is running for Sodexho's Stop Hunger campaign which supports charities operating within the UK and Ireland that combat poor nutrition and hopes to raise £2,000.

He said: "I think it's a good cause and I just wanted to do my bit. I keep pretty fit and I'm hoping the bones will hold up."

Andy is being cheered on and supported by his colleagues during the five-day run. His wife Sue is cycling the route beside him. His boss, regional director, Gareth Roulston said: "We're right behind him all the way."

Today Andy is due to pass through Highworth, Blunsdon St Andrew, Purton Stock, Cricklade a total of 29 miles and tomorrow he will be leaving Cricklade and pass through Charlton and Milbourne to Tetbury.
