Robin in his new home with Aaren Smith Picture Ref: 78703-159Vets in Purton were desperate to find Robin the three-legged ginger cat a new home after he was hit by a car.

And they have found the purr-fect match with another three-legged cat.

As reported in last Tuesday's Advertiser, Robin was found in the Pavenhill area of Purton on June 16 and taken to Purton Veterinary Group.

X-rays of the year-old cat's left hind leg revealed fractures so severe that vets were forced to amputate it.

When Heather Smith, who works at the Adver, heard that the vets were looking for a new home for the long-haired moggy, she was only too willing to offer him a home.

"I mentioned it to my children that night and on Wednesday my ten-year-old son, Aaron, emailed the vets," she said.

The family, who have another three-legged cat called Toulouse, collected Robin from the vets on Monday afternoon.

"He was just hiding behind the sofa," said Mrs Smith, from Walcot West.

"I guess it was all just a bit too much for him, it is all new."

The two cats had yet to meet, but the family was sure they'd get on fine.

"Toulouse is 11 years old and a very docile cat, and Robin seems very quiet, well he does at the moment anyway."

Vicky Gower, Practice Manager at Purton Veterinary Group, said: "We all really miss him here. We had him sat out in the office and he would jump on you while you were trying to type.

"But everybody is really happy that he has gone to a good home."

Robin has already adapted to life on three legs and is doing well.
