THIEVES who stole ornaments from the grave of a campaigner have not returned them.
On July 23 the Advertiser reported that ornaments had gone missing from around Matt McCue's headstone.
Mr McCue, pictured, who died last year aged 52 after going into hospital with a stomach illness, had been a campaigner against prostitutes in the County Road, Broad Street and Manchester Road areas.
His grieving father John has said that despite appealing through the Advertiser for the thieves to return what they took, there has been no response.
He asks anyone visiting the Whitworth Road cemetery in Pinehurst to watch out for people taking things from cemetery.
Mr McCue said: "The cemetery workmen do a fine job of keeping an eye out, but they cannot be there all the time.
"We've had nothing replaced."
Police appealed for witnesses to the thefts which included the removal of two solar lights, two angels and two statuettes of dogs to come forward. Mr McCue said he had also noticed solar lights going missing from other graves.
Matt was given a Home Office award the year before he died.
