A 30-year-old shoplifter who lied about her identity when she was caught stealing clothes worth £350 has been jailed for four months.

Lisa Couldrake had 82 previous convictions when she was arrested after taking tracksuit tops from the Tommy Hilfiger store in the Designer Outlet Village. But she was put on a drug treatment and testing order which she failed to compete and was thrown off after just a few weeks.

Couldrake was caught stealing in February from the shop in the Designer Outlet Village in Swindon.

After being arrested she told police her name was Claire Dibble so was let off with a caution as the name was not found on the police national computer. In the following months it was discovered that Miss Dibble, who does not exist, had the same fingerprints as shoplifter Couldrake.

When she appeared before a judge at Swindon crown court earlier this year she was put on the drug treatment and testing order. But she failed to attend the sessions and was brought back to court.

Couldrake, of Ilminster Avenue, Knowle, Bristol, admitted breaching a drug treatment and testing order.

David Chidgey, defending, said: "It was a shoplifting which took place in the company of her former partner who was seven years older than her. That was the man who introduced her to taking drugs."
