Award winners Jerry Edwards and Nathalie Bellamy who won a gold award for using local produce at their pub (16889)GAZETTE & HERALD: LANDLORDS of the Flemish Weaver pub Jerry Edwards and Nathalie Bellamy have been invited to meet Prince Charles after scooping a gold award in a prestigious regional competition.

The Taste Of The West Food and Drink Awards 2005 celebrates establishments that use local produce.

The pub on the High Street, Corsham, was given the gold award after mystery judges dined there.

Mr Edwards, who took over the business with his partner two years ago, said that they prided themselves on using local produce.

He said: "We've always tried to use local and organic produce wherever possible.

"It was one of the key decisions that we took when we set up the business.

"Our first requirement was to create an atmosphere that was good for dining, particularly for our target group families and our second requirement was to use local and organic food."

The extensive menu features freshly cooked pork, beef, lamb and trout from local farmers' markets.

The owners have just arranged for veal to be added to the list.

Mr Edwards said they very surprised to win as they didn't even know they had been entered into the competition. They are now looking forward to the awards presentation in September, when they will find out if they are the overall winner in the West.

"It would be nice to think we've got it but we're not counting our chickens," he said.

The couple will enjoy a day at Highgrove, hosted by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales who is patron of Taste Of The West.
