A HOUSE party held by Malmesbury mayor Jacky Martin to boost morale among town councillors and council staff has been deemed a success.
About 35 councillors and staff attended the event at Coun Martin's house in Little Ingleburn two weeks ago.
The mayor decided to hold the party in order to break down any barriers between councillors and help create a sense of unity on crucial issues such as the future of Malmesbury Town Hall.
Coun Martin said the party went well with everyone enjoying the occasion.
She said: "We had two gazebos and about 35 people came. I did a lot of the cooking and it gave people a chance to talk in another environment. I am used to arranging a lot of parties."
Coun Martin said there are plans to re-establish a Christmas party for town council workers as part of the team-building ethos.
Coun Ray Sanderson thanked Coun Martin for holding the party.
He said it had been a very pleasant and successful occasion.
He said: "The atmosphere was good and everyone was laughing and joking."
