THE Bishop of Ramsbury, the Rt Rev Peter Hullah, is to return to teaching and give up his post in the Salisbury diocese at the end of November it has been announced.
Bishop Peter, who has won the hearts of both children and adults all over the county, is to take up the post of principal of Northampton Academy in January of next year.
He was ordained a priest in 1975 and before his consecration as a Bishop and his appointment to the diocese of Salisbury in 1999, he was headmaster of Chetham's School of Music for seven years, before which he was chaplain to Sevenoaks School and King's School, Canterbury, in Kent, for 15 years.
He also serves as adviser on secondary school chaplaincy to the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Northampton Academy, one of the Government's new city academies specialising in sport, business and enterprise managed by the United Learning Trust, was opened in September 2004.
Bishop Peter said: "During the last six years, it has been a privilege to share in the mission and ministry of the church in Wiltshire and across the diocese."
