MELKSHAM manager Kelvin Highmore feels his squad need a "different striker'' as he puts the finishing touches to his squad.

This is despite his team scoring four goals in an away win at Bradford Town on Saturday.

"I think we need a couple more players but we need a striker with a lot of pace.

"Something that gives us another dimension," said Highmore.

Melksham has seen an influx of ten players since Highmore took over as manager at the start of the season with Steve Shek becoming the tenth this week.

Shek joined the club after time out of the game due to work commitments. He formerly played in the Scotland youth team and plays in central defence or in midfield.

Highmore said he was pleased with his new acquisition. "He looks a very accomplished and I think he will definitely be one to watch this season."

Shek was joined by his fellow new boys at Bradford on Saturday and helped Highmore's team to a comfortable 4-1 victory.

Highmore said: "We were exceptional. Everyone is slotting into our system and it is going very well.

"We controlled the game from the minute it started and they could not get the ball from us."

Melksham went one goal up from a Gavin Eyre corner mid-way through the first half.

New signing Dave Macey flicked the ball on at the near post and fellow new boy Simon Price headed home.

More chances followed but Melksham had to wait until the second half to add to their tally.

Just after the break Price hammered home a second from a Jamie Harrison through ball before he was brought off for Nick Rideout.

Five minutes later Rideout scored to put Melksham three goals to the good before Adam Gingell ran onto a long ball and controlled exquisitely with his left foot stroking the ball home with his right.

Bradford scored a consolation goal as Melksham swapped players around towards the end of the game.
