FOUR members of the same Marlborough family are following in the footsteps of their illustrious forebear in climbing the three highest peaks in Britain in 24 hours.
James Deuchar, Annabel Deuchar, her husband Steven Hargreaves and Robin Morris, who is married to another member of the Deuchar family, are due to set off for the marathon on Saturday.
Their great-grandfather, Cdr Jan Davis, from Clatford, climbed four peaks, including one in Ireland 71 years ago. He made his way around the country on his motorbike, but the 2005 group will use a van driven by Cdr Davis's eldest grandson, Alexander Deuchar.
They have raised £2,000 for the charity Send-a-Cow, and have upped the target to £3,000. Sponsorship can be registered on www.justgiving.com/JARS-3Peaks
