POLICE are investigating a trail of damage at the Postern Hill picnic site in Savernake Forest. They believe a group of youths who camped there in a tent on Tuesday night last week were responsible.
Burbage and Savernake beat officer PC Mark Fiander-Lewis said it appeared that the gang was responsible for the damage that included breaking up wooden dustbin surrounds.
PC Fiander-Lewis said the gang of youths left a trail of damage for the Savernake forest manager Fraser Bradbury to clean up. The total cost of repairs is likely to be about £100.
PC Fiander-Lewis said: "The youths appear to have left their tent at the scene, which has been removed by police. They are welcome to collect it from me in person at Marlborough police station if they are brave enough to own up to their actions."
Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to contact PC Fiander-Lewis at Marlborough police station on (01672) 512311.
