I SEE the musical director of the Devizes Samba Band is seeking to distance them from the unfortunate events connected to a different band reported in this paper at the Drews Pond Wiltshire Wildlife Trust day.
They are very quick to take the moral high-ground but Devizes Samba, however, seem to have a loose interpretation of the term community band. Happy enough to take public funding, but less to support community events and fundraisers without demanding significant remuneration.
Finally, maybe Mr Paterson could also shed some light on the little known historical significance of Samba at the Battle of Roundway? I'm sure many of your readers would love to be enlightened.
