Jane Cryer & Sue WoodhouseWHEN secretary Jane Cryer took part in a fundraising walk for breast cancer she had no idea that two months later she would need treatment for the disease.
Mrs Cryer, 49, of Dilton Marsh, and her friend Sue Woodhouse, also of Dilton Marsh, have now organised a Pink Ball to raise money and awareness of breast cancer.
The two friends, took part in the Playtex Moon Walk in May last year. The event is an organised midnight walk around London.
Mrs Cryer said: "Little did I think when I was walking around the streets of London dressed in a bra that I'd be needing treatment myself two months later."
She was so impressed with the care she received she wanted to do something to give something back. The idea of the ball is for guests to wear pink or buy one of the pink ribbons associated with breast cancer care
She said: "When I got ill I had to have a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. But the care team was phenomenal and I wanted to show how much I appreciate breast cancer care."
The ball is taking place at The Venue, Center Parcs, Longleat on November 15. Tickets are £25 and are available from Jane Cryer on (01373) 823117 or Sue Woodhouse on (01373) 867051.
