ONE of the oldest summer fetes and flower shows in the county will celebrate its 56th year this month. The Seend Flower Show, opened by fete princess, Samantha Wooster, will be held on August 13.

It will include performances from members of the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics.

There will be activities to cater for all ages, from Mr Snuffy's Magic Show and Punch and Judy to the skills of birds of prey.

There will also be stalls and games and other attractions including, for the first time, a wine bar with a selection of wine, wine spritzers and apple spritzers.

All proceeds from the fete will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Lye Field and Pavilion, which is the local sports and recreation field used by villagers of all ages, with specific use for football, cricket, tennis and various village events.

The fete will be held at Lye Field from 1.15pm.
