Jo Almabi with his eagle owl Oscar at the show (17367/69)WEST WILTS SHOW 2005: THE different cultures of Trowbridge were reflected in this year's show tent and young and old alike made the most of the chance to show off what the town has to offer.

Members of Trowbridge Multi-Cultural Society, which meets at Longfield Community Centre once a week, were serving traditional Jamaican food and displaying arts and crafts on their stall.

Society member Francis Senior said: "It is a good way to promote the club and we come here each year. The aim is to bring people from whatever culture together."

Also serving food, including a cous cous dish and homemade biscuits, and selling traditional produce were Hassan Elfilali and Abdour Benamar, of the town's Moroccan community. Mr Elfini said: "We want to show people that we are all from one world and this is a good chance to do that."

There were many charities represented in the marquee, including the Hope Nature Centre, the Children's Society, the Lions Club and Stepping Stones.

Youngsters from Trowbridge Youth Council who were asking people what was important to them in the town.

Members of Trowbridge Area Festival of Fun were on hand with the refreshments and a topical anti-binge drinking message as they served non-alcoholic cocktails.

Abigail Rose, 13, said: "It is an alternative for young people and a chance for them to register for TAFF and find out what we do."
