TWO friends cycled the length of the country, covering more than 1,000 miles, to raise £3,000 for charity. Isabel Martindale, 64, and Richard Craft, 57, of Bradford on Avon, rode from Lands End to John O'Groats last month.
The 16-day trip was in aid of Hope for Children and the Goodwill Children's Homes, which support youngsters in Sri Lanka and South India.
The super-fit pair averaged 65 miles per day and once topped 88 miles in 24 hours.
Mr Craft said: "The weather was very mixed with a lot of rain in England but warm sunshine most of the time in Scotland. The wind was very kind though and, when it did blow, was behind us most of the time, which was a huge relief.
"The first three days in Cornwall and Devon were the toughest and slowest as there are so many hills. Scotland provided the easiest riding because the roads are so much quieter."
