We would like to say how disappointed and disgusted we were with the way the Cabaret Night at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge, held on July 30, was "managed".

We waited over an hour while the bands sorted their sound systems out. We had to put up with the stench of cigarette smoke the whole time that we were waiting in the bar area. The soap dispensers in the ladies' toilets were empty, and most cubicles had no toilet paper in them.

After all this inconvenience, we were finally let in and discovered that there were hardly any seats available. Many people wanted to sit down, but were unable to, due to the lack of seating. So, customers (including ourselves) were forced to go and get some chairs from the bar area, so that we could sit in comfort to watch the show.

The council stewards were aggressive and totally unhelpful and told people that they were not allowed to bring in extra seating. A concert that was scheduled to last from 7pm to 10.30pm should provide adequate seating, people should not be expected to stand for this period of time.

We were extremely upset at the way the stewards treated us with an air of total indifference. A lot of customers were getting very agitated and the atmosphere was turning quite nasty.

When we enquired about the possibility of a reimbursement of our ticket, we were told that we should have queued for an hour by the doors. Nowhere was this mentioned, nor that the seating was limited. We eventually went home, as we could not bear to stay in such a chaotic and badly organised event.

For such a high profile event as this, we would have expected much more professionalism and organisation. Obviously, this event had little thought or forward planning whatsoever, with the expected amount of people that were due to attend.
