I HAVE been watching racing at the Castle Combe circuit since 1952 and I am disappointed that a handful of people can spoil the enjoyment of thousands over the noise level of the F3/GT meeting in June.

This is only four-and-a-half hours per year of excessive noise and the cars causing the problems, being a TVR, withdrew from the meeting.

This to me is another Blair-ite nanny state in which the minority overrules the majority. Howard Strawford and his team have done a fantastic job in getting the circuit and racing to international status. The people who have moved into the area since 1950, when racing began, should have known that a motor-racing circuit creates noise. I would not move to an area that is known to be noisy, and I would also not move to a football ground area.

I hope that Howard can appeal against this and get it overturned.

Also the circuit creates millions of pounds to the local economy per year which I would have thought would go a long way to the decisions of the courts.
