The new president of Swindon Old Town Rotary club, Tony Wall, left, receives his chain of office from last year's president John PoolmanTHE new president of the Rotary Club of Swindon and Old Town has received his chain of office at special handover ceremony.

Tony Wall received the chains of office from former president John Poolman.

Mr Poolman raised more than £15,000 for his chosen charities, including Macmillan nurses, during his year of office.

The Rotary Club helped to support this year's Swindon Cares event, which raised thousands of pounds for charities across Swindon.

Recently it held the annual Rotary Club duck race at the Westcott Place recreation ground and raised money for the Swindon Cancer Appeal.

After handing over the chain of office to his successor, Mr Poolman said: "Swindon is a great place to live in.

"I am really proud to tell other Rotary clubs that we come from Swindon.

"I tell everyone what a great place Swindon is, the community really pull together and support local charities, especially Rotary, as they know all the money raised goes to good causes and I am very grateful for their support."
