AFTER I had read the letter from Coun Mallinson (August 2), I first looked to see if it was April 1.

No, it was no fool's joke, it was just another case of hypocrisy from another Labour councillor, who can't accept that after the results that they produced year after year, they were kicked out of office.

If you have read the letter, it would seem up to last May, this town was spotless, the rubbish collection went ahead every week without fail or complaint, the grass verges were always cut and the cuttings were never allowed to fall into the gutters and block drains.

There never was a graffiti problem in Swindon, and houses etc were kept in good order.

I wonder if in the last five years, Mr Mallinson has ever come into Swindon on the train from say, Kemble, and seen the rubbish and decay along the industrial estates by Rodbourne Brides, I must say it was never a council problem!

And while he was in Cheltenham, did he see if the town's education department was being run by another town unit, because the local council made such a mess of it?
