SWINDON Wildcats have added 28-year-old forward Jason Cassells to their roster.

Cassells joins the club after starting the season for the Peterborough Phantoms, following a spell at Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League and having previously spent time at Telford Tigers.

Wildcats coach Ryan Aldridge said: "Adding Jason to our line up is going to give us the offence we have been lacking.

"We were not on the lookout for a guy, but when a guy like Jason comes available you have to jump on it.

"Jason has proved himself at this level and in the Elite league.

"Last year Jason put up great numbers at both levels and we will be looking for him to add the same kind of points for the Cats and help us move forward as a team."

Cassells should make his debut against Sheffield at the Link Centre on Saturday and as a result of his arrival, they have released Andrejs Lavrenovs.

Aldridge added:"With Jason coming in, someone had to go. We have played our best game this year with three import forwards in the line up "Andrejs has been a solid stay-at-home defenceman for us and done all that I have asked of him in his time here.

"This is a decision I know will make the team stronger but the hardest decision I have ever had to make as a coach. I wish Andrejs all the best in the future."
