With reference to the project to have named tablets placed on the Devizes and Roundway War Memorial, I am still trying to get information on a soldier with the surname Smith, who lived in Sheep Street, and lost his life serving in the First Army in Tunisia or Algeria 1939 to 1943. So far we have 21 names for the war and two more for the tablet, honouring those who have lost their lives since 1945.

We will be holding a street collection on Thursday August 20 to help with the cost. If you see a rather old OAP carrying a blue collecting tin on Market Day next week, please be generous. Let us show our services, not only in Afghanistan but also in other parts of the world, that we think of them, and will never forget them. If you can help, please, call me on 730773.
