Police are reminding drivers to keep their cars secure while out on day trips this summer.

Officers in Calne are concerned that people parking in secluded areas to go walking might forget to secure their cars properly, making them an easy target for thieves.

Calne PCSO Shelley Grey said: “I have had dealings with someone who had their car broken into while parked at a beauty spot recently.

“People might let their security lapse because they have parked in a secluded area and think they are safe.

“If people are going to a park or something they should be aware about leaving their items on display.

“The weather is getting nicer so people are going out for the day, and we do not want thefts to increase.”
