Police in Calne seized a large amount of cannabis resin when they carried out a successful drugs raid at a home in London Road this morning.

A 22-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of supplying cannabis when 12 officers, including plain clothed police and an armed response unit, raided his home at around 9am.

Sgt Phil Connor said: "We found a substantial amount of what we believe to be cannabis resin in big blocks, which is quite unusual because it is usually herbal.

"We arrested a 22-year-old male for possession with intent to supply.

"A substantial amount of money was also located."

The youngster was at home with his father at the time of the raid, but only one arrest was made.

The suspect is currently being questioned at the Melksham Custody Units, while police continued to search the terraced home two hours after the raid.

The supply of suspected Class B drugs were seized and will be tested.

Sgt Connor said: "We were acting on information from the community and we encourage anyone with information to contact us because we will always act on information of this nature."
