Devizes Town A 0 Corsham Jaguars 2

Both sides defences were on top of this evenly contested tie, with Corsham having a lot of possession but Devizes always looking dangerous on the counter attack.

Just as it looked like the first half would finish goalless Corsham took the lead in the final minutes when after a good interchange of passing the forward coolly finished from close range.

The second half continued in much the same vein with Corsham pushing forward looking for a second but Devizes resolute defending keeping them at bay.

The second goal finally came after 15mins when Devizes didn’t pick up all the men at a corner gifting the Corsham player a free header in front of goal and he made no mistake with a bullet header.

Devizes Town B 3 Melksham Town Robins 2

After 2 close matches between these sides in the first half of the season it was no surprise that again this match was even and the initiative swinging from side to side.

The first half began with Melksham out of the starting blocks the quickest forcing a serious of corners but were kept at bay by some fine defending by Luke Carey and Callum Barnes.

As Devizes finally began to wake up and the contest flowed from end to end, with chances at a premium.

Mid way through the half Devizes took the lead when Jack Holland gained possession with a great challenge in midfield and instantly played the ball into the space behind the Melksham defence and Ciaran Webster ran through and finished with a crisp shot across the keeper.

Devizes pushed on again looking to double there advantage but the best chance fell to Tom Carey who was denied by a great last minute challenge by the Melksham defender, leaving the score 1-0 at half time.

Devizes got a nasty shock at the start of the second half when Melksham equalised, which was the first time this season keeper Toby Buller had been beaten.

This only seemed to spur Devizes on again and there next good chance fell to Ben Thompson who like last week was denied by the keeper.

From the resulting corner Devizes regained the lead when after a goalmouth scramble Joe Dilling turned the ball in from an acute angle.

Melksham looked to have secured a draw when with less than 5 minutes to go a massive goal kick sailed over the Devizes defence and despite a great chase by Thomas Woodman the forward casually finished.

With time running out Devizes scored their third and winning goal when Cameron Reader fired home from inside the box with a crisp first time shot following another goalmouth scramble.

Melksham must now be wondering what they have to do to beat Devizes, but just a little bit of luck can swing the return match in there favour - that is how even these 2 sides are matched.

Hopefully the 4th meeting between these sides will again produce a great match, with the outcome to close to call.
