A very good game between two strong teams both determined to not give an inch was won by a Castle Combe side who took their chances well.

From the off Combe threw everything at Westbury whose defence held firm for long periods.

When Westbury did break out they created some good positions without ever getting into that final shooting area.

However, Combe eventually made their pressure tell as a high ball into the area formt he right wing was not really dealt with effectively by Westbury and Combe were able to head into the lead.

Thereafter more Combe pressure was absorbed by the Westbury defence, before the lead was extended on the stroke of half time.

Combe worked the ball from the left to an unmarked man just outside the box, who picked his spot and shot home.

The second half saw Westbury getting more of the game in the Combe half and actually apply some good pressure on the Combe goal.

However, they could never quite get that final telling shot.

The with the game heading for a close a Combe defender sent a high clearance form his own half towards the Westbury goal.

This was over the heads of all of the players advancing on goal and the flight was enough to deceive the Westbury goal keeper as it snuck just under the bar for a third goal. This was the way the game finished.
