Seagry Primary School held their tenth Conker Championships on Saturday with more than 50 pupils, parents and siblings turning out for the event.

Debbie Short, administrator, helped organise the tournament. She said: “It was a brilliant morning, the weather was perfect and everyone had a fantastic time.

“We had a good turnout and we had different competitions for each age group in the school, from Year 1 to Year 6.

“We also had competitions for older siblings as well as mums and dads.”

Winners received medals and runners-up certificates.

Mrs Short said: “We were very grateful to Mr and Mrs Tony Kay for hosting the event in their garden at The Chestnuts in Upper Seagry.

“Each match had a referee to make sure everything was above board and the big finale was for the dads.

“We all gathered round and cheered them on.”

The Friends of Seagry School, led by Vicky Lawrence, organised a barbecue for all those taking part.
