The stabbing of Matthew Baggott was a dreadful event and one that has appalled people in Devizes.

I was keen to make sure we captured that sense of shock in this week's Devizes edition of the paper and I hope we managed it.

We had a difficult decision to make on the front page picture. I wanted to get across the fact that this terrible thing had happened in Market Day in broad daylight. The best picture we had showed the paramedics and police trying to save Mr Baggott and, after much debate, we decided to go with it.

I am sure his family will not be happy that we did but I think we balanced the impact of the picture with some vey nice tributes paid to Mr Baggott by his friends.

In the picture you can see the medics at work but not Mr Baggott. It is a poweful picture, all the more so for being slightly grainy because our photo assistant Amanda Pawlak took it on her little digital camera while walking home on what was supposed to be an early finish for her.

I thought our coverage was quite comprehensive. We explained what had happened (as best we could bearing in mind the legal restrictions) and filled in quite a bit of detail about Mr Baggott's life.

I still think there is some more to come out about the events leading up to the stabbing though.
