Footage has shown a “dramatic” crash between a tractor and a van at a notorious blackspot in Wiltshire.

The two vehicles crashed at Black Dog Crossroads, on the A360 near West Lavington, at around 5.50pm on Thursday, April 25.

A van can be seen attempting to pull out onto the A360 before being struck by a tractor.

One resident described the incident as “pretty dramatic as the van turned through 180 degrees in the air.”

Police confirmed there were no injuries reported following the crash.

Black Dog Crossroads is known by residents as one of the “most dangerous junctions in the county”, and many have called for the installation of traffic lights.

Wiltshire Council is currently in the process of a scheme to improve sight lines at the junction but will need to complete neighbouring land purchases before proceeding.

The busy A-road remained closed for several hours while the van was recovered.

At the time, a spokesperson for the force said: “Please be aware that the A360 at Black Dog crossroads near Market Lavington is currently blocked following an RTC between a tractor and a car.

“There are not thought to be any injuries but the road is currently blocked while recovery is arranged.

“Please find alternate routes.”
