Swindon Holi 2024 celebrations in Old Town Gardens Bowl

The festival at Swindon’s Old Town Gardens Bowl was a joyous celebration of colour, music and dancing.

Revellers arrived from outside of the town to take part in the largest Holi in Swindon’s history on Sunday (March 24).

Ash Singhal, one of the lead organisers, said: “Everyone is enjoying it - that is the human spirit that we want.

“There is no race, there is no colour, look on the left, look on the right, everyone looks the same.

“We are doing this just today, but imagine if we could do this everyday.”

Attendees had a great time, with some remarking it was the best Holi they had been to.

As well as coloured powder, there were coloured flares, DJs and a variety of stalls selling dishes from around the subcontinent.

Another attendee, who did not wish to be named, said: “The music is fantastic, it is bringing together people of all ages.”

The event was organised by the Swindon Hindu Centre, which has around 12 per cent of the English community involved after being open for almost two years.

But they want to get up to 60 per cent involved and increase engagement.
