A Wiltshire care home has been sold after its owners of 20 years announced their retirement.

The Priory Care Home, located in a Grade II listed Edwardian property on Greenway Lane in Chippenham, has been purchased by first-time buyer Vishal Chandnani for an undisclosed price.

This comes after owners Mark and Judith Allworth, who bought the home in 2004, decided to retire from the sector and market the property through advisors Christie & Co.

Mr Allworth believes the business is now in good hands.

He said: “We purchased The Priory in 2004 when I left the IT industry.

“It was our first move into the care industry, as it now has been for Vishal.

“The Priory was a great business to learn the industry in, allowing us to buy additional homes.

“It has been developed to where it is today, and I am confident that Vishal will move it on and take it further once again.”

The pair sold their other business, Arden House Nursing Home, in 2023.

The Priory is registered to house 24 elderly residents and has been extended over the years to include 18 ensuite bedrooms and five care apartments.

Mr Chandnani added: “The Priory is a lovely care home and property, and I am looking forward to being part of a great team and community.”
